A note from Sandee Nebel

I feel I would be amiss if I didn’t acknowledge the vastly global loss of Michael Jackson.  He represented something different to every single person. To me, he was a musical presence I fully appreciated, but I was not a worshipper.  In fact, my thoughts are more in relation to how frequently his photo appears in psychology texts and professional literature about BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder).

I often find myself in awe of extraordinarily gifted people, like Michael Jackson.  I feel deep sorrow when they are suddenly cut off from the living population in what seems incredibly premature.  I am sensitive to the loss of what might have been and it takes me some time to accept the unfairness I feel.  Whether I see him as an example of a disorder which according to the reports, may have contributed to the dependence of pain medications likely causing his death, or as a superstar,  our world has lost a gifted artist...

Personally and professionally I hope awareness will eventually be raised about BDD.

(Further information about body dysmorphic disorder is available on the internet)

Warm regards,
