In order to offer resources and options to the clients at White Picket Fence Counseling Center, I regularly visit treatment centers all over the country. This way I can learn about what they offer, tell them more about our center, and build relationships with professionals who are equally committed to helping people recover from eating disorders and food addiction.
The other month I visited Timberline Knolls, a women-only residential treatment center outside of Chicago. The beautiful and enriching setting moved me, and it was also heartening to witness in person how much they’ve grown since they opened (read more about their history and expansions).
Art therapy sessions take place in an old house from the 1800s, and they have a highly-developed equine therapy program, as well as other expressive arts therapies and yoga therapy. I’m always pleased to meet with the clinicians and see the first-rate staff in action.
