A residential treatment center located in a complex of Victorian homes – it’s a match made in heaven for a counseling center located in a big old house like White Picket Fence.
I recently returned to the Hyde Park Counseling Center in Tampa and had a visit with Clinical Director Louise Wallowitz. On previous trips I’ve had the chance to meet with their dietician and psychiatrist and many wonderful therapists.
Hyde Park Counseling Center has given our clients a bridge from their inpatient treatment programs, helping to transition back to their lives at home. One way this happens is that clients can cook their own meals in apartment-like settings. Clients are accountable and supported by roommates and honesty is part of this process, with each other and themselves. Living in these apartments mimics “real life” at home.
A key benefit for women who attend Hyde Park Counseling Center is that their aftercare program is a comfortable driving distance from Orlando. Clients can attend as often as weekly and I encourage this to ensure continued strong recovery. This is a great perk!
