Our surroundings are so important. It's crucial to have somewhere in the home that is our sanctuary, where we can read, write, that really feels like us and where we can really feel our soul. This is a place you can claim as your own, where you do your deepest healing work. If you live with other people, let them know the importance of your private space and not to disturb you when you're there.
Some people go to nature to find that safe haven. If you can't always get away, try bringing elements from nature indoors, with colors, plants, water structures or artwork.
Now that spring is here, take the time to nourish your inner well being by adding more space, beauty and light to your surroundings. You could add a fresh coat of paint in a color that inspires or soothes you, or open up the flow of energy by moving your furniture around. Or maybe it's time for that larger renovation project you've been dreaming about.
Sometimes the biggest impact you can make in your living space is to clear the clutter. Physical clutter—piles of paper, broken or worn out possessions, unfinished projects—blocks us from seeing and feeling the positive changes we are trying to grow into. Even tackling a small bit of clutter can evoke the Spirit of Change in your inner and outer worlds.
For today, simply open your eyes and notice the space around you. What do you feel when you scan the room and take in the details? Is there clutter you've stopped seeing because it's been there so long? Are there photos of people who've moved on from your life? Do you feel like you have the space to do what you want to do?
What is one small change you can make in your living space right now that would make a difference to how "at home" you feel? Now give yourself that gift. Welcome home.
